The Abel–Blasingame Assessment System
for individuals with intellectual disabilities
™ (ABID)

The Abel-Blasingame Assessment System for individuals with intellectual disabilities™ (ABID) is a derivative of The Abel Assessment for sexual interest™. The ABID is designed specifically for use in evaluating and treating sexual abusers with intellectual disabilities.

The comprehensive questionnaire is written at a second grade reading level, and is designed to be read aloud by the test administrator who records the client’s responses directly into the computer. Like the AASI-2, the ABID includes an assessment module to objectively determine sexual interest in children using the same 160 digital images of clothed adults, adolescents and children, but with simplified procedures and descriptors.
